Disqus is a new startup that replaces a blog's comment system with an "upgraded" way of commenting. They do a lot of things differently than normal comments. The "Ad Comment" area is right at the end of an article rather than after the other comments. While this might increase the number of comments gathered, I think it would prevent people from reading the previous comments before posting. They also have pre-populated my contact info (I posted an earlier comment with them) but the fields are unlabeled and extremely low contrast - they almost look disabled. If you are a registered user you can vote comments up or down, but the first option is to vote it down which seems a little pessimistic. And finally the comments are threaded, which is a nice feature that is rare in blog comments.
